I’ m the daring one in my circle of friends, the one who got into the most mischief as a child, who drove parents a bit crazy as a child and now as a teenager. My motto is: "Life is short," so I live every day to its fullest, and I’m willing to concede mistakes along the way.
For me the formula for adventure is really quite simple: Novelty + courage = adventure.
For example in camps I often came into my house through windows instead of a front door even if my room was on a second floor. Also in camps I liked a conversely day, because everyone should wear something totally out of character: boys were dresses and hills and girls – big t-shorts, over-size jeans and boots.
I think everything can be funny. Even something as mundane as brushing your teeth can take on a whole new level of fun when you practice a tap dancing routine or belly dance at the same time!
But no every fun can be extreme. I want to fight back. Being free-spirited and adventurous is a truly wonderful attribute, and the fact that I always up to seek a bright new horizon is a unique and exciting quality. I always try to conquer my fears. Once me and my friends went to an old pear and decided to jump from the top of it. It was about 5 or even more meters above the water. I was really scared, but I said to myself that if my friends can do it, then I can. And I did it. After it I can climb as high as necessary and jump from there, if needed.
Also I think that one of the best way to find new adventures is through new people. Everybody has different experiences and a different background; every person can teach you something new. Maybe that guy sitting across from you at the coffee shop can show you how to climb a mountain. Maybe the old lady in the library can teach you how to preserve fifty pounds of tomatoes. Maybe the quiet girl at the bar can offer you a place to stay with her cousin in Buenos Aires, or Budapest, or Bolivia.
One day it helps me, because I start talking to one guy in a Malta club and discovered that he’s been living in our hotel and worked as a diving instructor. It was a new experience for me and I liked it!
I am always on the lookout for new things to do: I tried to milk a cow and a goat on my aunt’s dacha, took a picture with a snake in a zoo. What I’m going to do in future is to meditate with Buddhist monks.
It’s not only a way to open my mind and to relax, going to Chine, where I would like to meet the monks, is also a chance to explore new territory. When I was a child I climbed the tree in my backyard, enjoyed the view and imagined that I was in another country or even in another universe – depended om my mood.
I always do such things because I’m young and the world have so many interesting things to do and to see! I don't want to “kick the bucket” having followed the same old routine, day in, day out … That’s why I made up a bucket list. It is a list of things I want to do before something happen.
Adventurers are experts in focusing on the journey rather than the destination. Yes, they usually have a goal in mind, but when I’m trying new things, plans always change and the route will, too! I need to be resourceful and, more importantly, be a good sport. When things go wrong (which they will, or else you're not pushing far enough outside your comfort zone) I’m trying not get moody and distraught;
I remember that balance is also a virtue, and although I may long to prowl with the lions in the African plains, don't neglect those six memos due at work! I also understand that finding adventurous can’t be a lifelong journey. Each time I ask myself if I’m balanced, it gives me an opportunity to pause and reflect. It allows me to be conscious about the decisions I’m making instead of blindly following the herd off a cliff. That’s why I’ still alive.
